Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island, which is known as West Island. Many people unfamiliar with the word frequently think that it's a separate island somewhere in the west of Montreal but in fact it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to everything from the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. However, this isn't the truth. Brugel lived in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to become a dancer. Then, a growth spurt caused her to outgrow all of the dance partners she was able to have. In an interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inches." After I surpassed my male counterparts and gave up, I decided to give up. Former dancers often turn to acting and in the case of Brugel, it was an urging by her teacher in drama. Teacher who recommended she try getting a part in the school's annual production. She tried out and ended up playing the leading role for the role in Anne of Green Gables. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Brugel's career spans over 20 years and she has been in over 60 productions, both on big screens and smaller ones. Her most notable role was the one of Rita (pictured below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member during Season 1 of the series and only appeared on occasion.
